What is the side effects of Aderall Xr 10mg ...My son is taking it for ADHD?

Answer:
Adderall is an amphetamine. Amphetamines have a high potential for abuse. They should be tried only for patients where all alternative therapy has been ineffective. Long term use can cause addiction and must be avoided.
Side effects:
Inability to sleep, nervousness, restlessnes, lack of appetite.
Dizziness is common. Rise slowly over several minutes from sitting or lying position. Be careful climbing stairs.
Dry mouth. Frequent mouth care, sucking hard candy, or chewing gum may help.
Tolerance, extreme psychological dependence, and severe social disability have occurred.

My son is almost 6 and has been taking it for over a year. It is a pretty good medicine if you find the correct dose. In my opinion the XR is better because it prevents that mood crash that happens with the normal version. It can cause lack of appetite, lack of sleep at night or drowsiness during the day. A high dose is pretty easy to spot, he will be in a daze most of the day.Good luck!
Weight loss from loss of appetite, irratibility, sleeping less, dehydration, and any other symptoms of "speed" b/c it IS "prescription speed".
The good thing is; 10 mg is the lowest dosage %26 XR is extended release so it gets into bloodstream at a slower rate over time instead of all at once.
Also, VERY IMPORTANT, make sure his blood pressure does not increase too much b/c it can cause hypertension.
Here is a web site. Please becareful what he is taking. My cousin is 14 and has ADHD, the drs put him on some form of meds to help him and it made him worse. I am not sure what he was taking. Be sure to get a second opinion if possible.
