Whats The Best OTC Sleeping Pill?

I have problems w/ sleeping, obvisiously.
Answer:
The only thing you can buy OTC is Sominex or Tylenol/Advil PM. And the ingredient in those that makes you sleepy is just Benedryl. You can just get some generic Benedryl (diphenhydramine) and try 25-50 mgs. before bed. NO MORE than 50 mgs. or it will hype you up and make you jittery and jumpy. This is a case where more is definitely not better.
Anything else, you will need a doctor's prescription.
none of them ambiem cr 12 is the best but a doctor must prescribe it
I take melotonin, it's a natural substance that your body makes that makes you sleepy. if that fails I take some Benadryl. It knocks me out and helps my allergies :)
OTC Tylenol PM is what I advise my patients to take when they don't want a prescription or feel they don't need such a strong medecine; it seems to work fine.
Thera flu, nighttime or NyQuil
Simply Sleep Made by Tylenol
Sleep problems are a serious thing and can indicate other serious, even life threatening situations and can shorten lifespan.Obesity can cause an abnormal pattern of sleep resulting from APNIA, or a temporary blocking of the airway that can lead to constantly stirring to regain breathing. Snoring is one symptom of apnia. Due to this often interrupted sleep, one never reaches the deep sleep that is the most beneficial to refresh the mind and body. This is very stressful and can caused physical trauma. You have a very hard time with fatigue, which can lead to harmful errors and accidents, possibly grave or mortal harm, at least early death.Correcting your poor sleep situation for good is more effective than a sleeping pill, and pills are NEVER a long term situation. The propects of impaired operations of vehicles and machinery and the real possibly of addiction preclude usage for any more than a supplemental tool.Proper diagnosis of a sleeping disorder will be far more effective and rewarding when you can function well again.Best of luck and get to seeing the doc!
None of them. Try Chamomile tea. Unwind at least an hour before bedtime, read a book and sip your tea. Stress is the leading cause of sleep disorders. Meds are not good for you, OTC or not. Good luck!
Hi Pallas, I do not recommend you begin to take sleeping pill.
Sleeping pills are addictive. Also sleeping pills cause hangovers that reduce brain cell activity during the day. They make you sleepy, confused and weak. Not to mention the weird side effects some of them have like diarrhea, pains/aches etc
Think twice before taking that next sleeping pill...Almost everyone has occasional sleepless nights, perhaps due to stress, heartburn or drinking too much caffeine or alcohol. Insomnia is a lack of sleep that occurs on a regular or frequent basis, often for no apparent reason. No matter what your age, insomnia usually is treatable. The key often lies in changes to your routine during the day and when you go to bed. Try these steps:Look article: http://www.askedweb.com/askedweb/what_is...Jason Homan
Been there, done that. If you take those OTC or prescription sleep aids, you'll find it's even harder to sleep when you stop taking them. (i don't CARE if they say you won't become dependant.)
Celestial Seasonings makes a tea called Sleepytime extra - it's chamomile, and contains VALERIAN - which is widely known for it's aid in getting people to sleep.
Relax before bedtime, take a hot bath or shower a couple of hours before you go to sleep, then read a book, pray, or just lay back and relax. Try not to focus on anything that might be bothering you.
You can also try sprinkling your pillows with lavender, it's been shown to have relaxing properties.
Also, if you are wound up during the day you can buy L-Theanine or GABA supplements at the local health food store. These will help if you're feeling stressed out or anxious, and then you should be able to unwind at the end of the day.
At least TRY these before the OTC medication. Trust me, it's worth it. Good luck!
1 melatonin, 1 calcium with magnesium, 1 b complex. You will sleep wonderfully with this combo, 1 hour before bedtime.
Valerian root is the best natural sleep aid. However, it smells very bad.
acemitopen And nyquil and i know i spelled that wrong
