Answer:
A mild sore throat associated with "cold" or "flu" symptoms can be made more comfortable with the following remedies:
Increase your liquid intake. (Warm tea with honey is a favorite home remedy).
Use a steamer or humidifier in your bedroom.
Gargle with warm salt water several times daily: 1/2 tsp salt to 1/2 cup water. Whenever a sore throat is severe, persists longer than the usual five to seven day duration of a "cold" or "flu," and is not associated with an avoidable allergy or irritation, you should seek medical attention. The following signs and symptoms should alert you to see your physician: Severe and prolonged sore throat Earache
Difficulty breathing Fever (Over 101 degrees)
Difficulty swallowing Blood in saliva or phlegm
Hoarseness lasting over 2 weeks Difficulty opening the mouth
Frequently recurring sore throat Lump in the neck
Joint pains Rash Antibiotics are drugs that kill or impair bacteria. Penicillin or erythromycin (well-known antibiotics) are prescribed when the physician suspects streptococcal of other bacterial infection that will respond to them. However, a number of bacterial throat infections do not respond to penicillin, but require other's categories of antibiotics instead. Antibiotics do not cure viral infections, but viruses do lower the patient's resistance to bacterial infections. When such a combined infection occurs, antibiotics may become necessary. When an antibiotic is prescribed, it should be taken - as the physician directs - for the full course (usually l0 days). Otherwise the infection will probably be suppressed rather than eliminated, and it can return. Take mild pain relievers such as acetaminophen (Tylenol, Datril, Tempra), ibuprofen (Advil), etc. Take non-prescription throat lozenges.
There is an herbal tea called "Throat Coat" make you a cup of tea mixed with some honey. Hope this helps.
Gargle with warm salt water.
Regular Lipton or Red Rose tea has tannic acid in it which soothes sore throats.
Sleep with a humidifier or vaporizer running in your bedroom tonight.
When you make hot tea, boil a clove of minced garlic in the tea. Mix some honey as well before drinking it. A few drops of fresh lemon will add to the flavor and to the vitamin C content.
The garlic contains Selenium, which boosts your immune system, which will fight effectively your sore throat for you.
Before going to bed gargle with salt water (using a Little bit of table salt to salt it).
This should work.
squeeze a lemon down your throat and then eat a spoon of honey.
Hi
Several things can help with getting rid of a sore throat. The first is gargling with hot salty water. It only takes a teaspoon of salt (table salt will work) in a cup of water. Make the water as hot as you can possibly stand it. Gargle every few hours as needed. The second is to suck on a zinc losenge. The third, is to take a cup of hot water, a tablespoon of honey, and a bit of vinegar. Mix ingredients and sip gingerly. Vinegar is a great killer of bugs. The second time I ever had strep throat, it was reccommended that I suck on CEPASTAT losenges. The CEPASTAT ones are hard to find in my area, but they are stronger than the Cepacol losenges.I know there are other ways to cure a sore throat, but these come to mind first.Consider seeking help if youve had your sore throat for more than a week, you have a fever, or you've been exposed to strep in the short past.Take care and get some good rest.
At the first sign of a sore throat or cold drink plenty of Pineapple Juice. It acts like a natural pre cure and has been working for me for years. There is something like natural antibiotics and vitamins in it that stop the soreness from settling in.
gargle with warm salt water.or hydrogen peroxide...it helps!
